Differences

Spotting what changed between two pieces of text is hard when you are scanning back and forth.

Text Compare lines the two versions up and highlights the differences, and you can compare by line or by word.

How to use Text Compare

  1. Paste the first version into the left box and the second into the right box.
  2. Choose Line or Word comparison and turn on Ignore case if capitalization should not count.
  3. Review the added and removed parts, then copy the result.

Use cases

Good to know

Text Compare keeps both inputs entirely in the browser and aligns them with a longest-common-subsequence diff. Switching between line and word mode changes only how the texts are split for comparison, not the content. The added and removed counts update as you edit.

Frequently asked questions

Does Text Compare do line and word comparison?

Yes. A compare-mode control switches between the two, so you can look at whole-line changes or word-level edits within a line.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. Both texts are compared on your device, so even unpublished drafts stay local.

Will it tell me how much changed?

Yes. A running count of additions and removals is shown, and it reports when the two texts match exactly.
